He claimed there was a perceived threat to his life and property, Daily Sun reports.
Anyim in response to a recent publication by Sahara Reporters, in which they stated that he was under investigation over allegations that he is funding pro-Biafra protests, said there was a sustained media attack on his person.
In a petition over the publication, the former SGF said he had to seek government protection because of “the desperation that has sustained the evil elements in the last five months could drive them to become even more vicious and deadly.”
According to him, he took his time in the last five to uncover the masterminds of this dangerous plan and he found out there were a bunch of touts and hirelings with a track record of dangerous capacity to commit any harm.
“They operate as a network and recruit other elements, when necessary, to act as their undercover agents. They occasionally appear frontal and, at other times, act as if they are faceless. They are well organized and employ multiple strategies to sustain their plans, including blackmail and spurious allegations,” he said.

Anyim said he it may still be early to name the suspected masterminds but he believes that a clear presentation of their mode of operation would help the investigating authorities.
He therefore, called on the government to uncover all the actors in the plan and bring them to justice.
There had been allegations that Anyim was one of the sponsors of the ongoing protests by pro-Biafran agitators. Reacting to the allegations, the former SGF said he found it despicable that some people have taken it upon themselves to disparage, embarrass, ridicule, insult and incite the public against him.
