Caitlyn Jenner is once again making headlines for the fatal four-car traffic accident she was involved in back in February in Malibu, California.
Jenner was the driver in the accident, in which one person was killed.
On
Friday, five members of the Wolf-Millesi family filed a civil lawsuit
against the reality TV star in the Los Angeles Superior Court for
negligence, ET has learned.
According
to the documents obtained by ET, the lawsuit claims that the family
continues to deal with both “significant personal injuries and emotional
distress” brought on by the incident. The lawsuit also claims that
Jenner was “inattentive, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove at
unsafe speed for road conditions.”
The
lawsuit gives detailed examples of the allegations of physical
suffering by the people suing Jenner. According to the papers, Elga
Maurer claims she suffered a severe cervical fracture that left her
permanently disabled, while Peter Wolf-Millesi cites suffering severe
nerve damage to his wrists and hands, causing him to be disabled from
work. The court documents also state that the incident required Lea
Wolf-Millesi to undergo emergency and ongoing orthopedic treatment,
while she and Peter’s then 1-month-old newborn, who was also in the
vehicle, had to be transported to the UCLA Medical Center by ambulance
for emergency treatment after not being responsive at the scene.
ET previously reported that Kimberly Howe, 69, was killed and seven others were injured as a result of the crash. Footage obtained by ET
of the accident shows Jenner’s Cadillac Escalade – which was towing a
trailer carrying an off-road vehicle – hitting both a white Lexus,
driven by Howe, and a black Prius. It also appears to show Howe
colliding with a black Hummer.
In September, the 65-year-old Olympian told her side of the story to Today’s
Matt Lauer, claiming that despite reports that her speed could have
been a factor in the crash, she was driving under the speed limit at the
time.
“I
was going 46 in a 50. My airbag didn’t even go off,” Jenner claimed.
“All I needed was probably a half a second, you know, of time. I almost
got stopped – but I couldn’t quite get it stopped. I was pulling a
trailer so no, I don’t think speed was [a factor,] anything like that.”
